What Really Sparked The Jones/Walters War?!

Barbara Walters has finally found a new publisher for her autobiography -- snagging what is believed to be a $5 million advance. Walters insists her book will give readers a glimpse into her untold personal life, including growing up as the daughter of a nightclub entrepreneur. "It's not a series of my television interviews; it's the story of my life, and it's a life that a lot of people don't know," Walters says.

... The New York Daily News recaps a May 12th, 2004, appearance by Rosie O'Donnell on ABC's The View which may have sparked her feud with Star Jones. After urging women to "stand up and scream" in protest of Martha Stewart's felony conviction, Rosie intimated the African-American community "had a vote" and decided to defend such role models as Jayson Williams, who at the time stood accused of manslaughter. Star and Rosie got into it, and the next day Jones slammed O'Donnell's attack as "inappropriate," upsetting O'Donnell and prompting Barbara Walters to try — and fail — to make Star apologize.
