The sad man once known as David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth appears on a new tribute album called "Strummin' with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen". . . in which a bunch of bluegrass artists serve up their takes on the Van Halen catalog. (--It hit record stores on Tuesday.)

"Jump" is one of the two tracks on the album that Roth himself sings. The other is "Jamie's Cryin'".

--Roth explains in the liner notes, quote, "My roots were always kind of country. . . not the same country as my first band. Their flag had windmills. Mine had a BBQ pit and a shot glass."
